Description:

Electronic waste is an issue that many people are unaware of. Globally, only 17% of e-waste is properly recycled. This means that the majority of this waste is left in landfills, causing environmental problems and producing tons of pollution. New Zealand presents itself as a green and clean country but does a poor job of managing waste. Unfortunately, unlike other countries, we don't even have a national policy on recycling e-waste. The goal of this project is to raise awareness of the issue by educating others and hopefully encouraging better recycling habits.

Tronicwaste is a kit made up of a publication that also serves as storage for e-waste. The publication contains information on the basic concepts of electronic waste, such as what it is, its environmental impact, and how it's recycled. The style of the publication is based on infographics, as they allow more complex information to be conveyed in an easier way. The box it comes with is designed to be used as storage for e-waste. As e-waste recycling varies from city to city, this allows people to have a place to store their waste instead of irresponsibly discarding it. It can hold smaller items such as broken chargers, wires, and old batteries. The box itself is made out of cardboard and can be easily recycled.

By educating others about electronic waste, the hope is to give people the incentive to adopt better habits, whether it's their consumption habits or their recycling habits. Small changes can lead to significant change if enough people commit to it.
