DUAL New Zealand
Description:
DUAL’s new Auckland workplace presented a unique opportunity: to design a space that physically reflects the company’s refreshed brand identity and sets a new standard for how the business shows up to its people, clients, and industry. This wasn’t just about creating a workspace it was about capturing a bold moment of transformation.
Following an organisational rebrand, DUAL needed an environment that aligned with their evolving culture and ambitions. The space had to feel confident, future-focused, and welcoming while also supporting hybrid working, team connection, and day-to-day flexibility. A core requirement was a multi-use hub for internal events, presentations, and townhalls.
The project’s irregular floorplate and elevated position overlooking the harbour became an opportunity to flip conventional planning. The design team carefully leveraged natural light and panoramic views to maximise wellbeing, clarity, and orientation.
A key spatial move was the creation of a central activation spine a continuous circulation and social zone that threads through the space. This spine connects arrival, work zones, and social areas, while fostering non-hierarchical movement and spontaneous interaction.
Materiality and brand were deeply integrated. Textural finishes such as Ripple Flex Oak, brushed brass, Jardin Emerald stone, and Zellige tiles reflect the emotional tone of the new identity. Feature walls, custom artwork, and moss installations connect culture with story. These elements weren’t just layered for aesthetics, they were curated to evoke trust, energy, and warmth.
The events hub, seamlessly linked to the kitchen and entry, is framed by acoustic ceiling panels and a custom moss logo wall. Adaptable, branded, and ready for gathering.
Environmental responsibility played a key role. The design retained 70% of the existing ceiling grid, and specified carbon-neutral acoustic tiles and recyclable carpet products showing that beauty, function and sustainability can align.
The result is a dynamic, intelligent, and emotionally resonant workspace. One that enables connection, celebrates brand, and supports DUAL’s hybrid future.
Since completion, the workplace has seen stronger return-to-office engagement, improved team satisfaction, and enhanced perception from visitors and partners. It has become not just a place to work, but a space that communicates who DUAL is and where they’re going.
