Evolving tide considers the intersection between ecological concerns and spaces that encore social well being. Respecting its current purpose while considering how that purpose may transition as time goes on. The space has been designed for people to use now while also thinking about how it will act in the future, so some selected materials have been chosen to allow for natural processes of decay, with some sections of the pathway deteriorating into the landscape overtime. The core design gesture is the ocean inlet that spills into the park from Wharipo Lagoon. Human and non-human entities are drawn into the space through the three programmes of this park space. An area with shallow water allows for children to play and interact with the inlet. A marine enrichment zone encourages the growth of coral reefs resulting in increased sea life in the area. In the area closest to the harbour, deeper pools provide opportunities and access to inner city swimming space. The pathways extend out of the inlet to allow for easy access to the park. The seating, made from compressed soil, is designed to provide opportunities for lounging and sitting. Green and blue spaces are shown to improve mental health by providing a break from repetitive systems so areas in the park have been planted out with native bush, encouraging people to visit this green space within the industrial city while also providing shelter to the area. This park aims to enhance mental health and wellbeing for all users by activating social spaces, aiding healthy marine habitats and facilitating interaction between ecologies.

Evolving tide considers the intersection between ecological concerns and spaces that encore social well being.
