This project was a humble small-scale alteration that unified generations of refurbishments and elevated the home to a point worthy of its commanding view of the Waitemata. The essential modern task of combining living spaces is managed without necessitating an entire refresh of the home. The entry experience is improved, slowly revealing the generous space and aspect. With careful attention to acoustics, the large space has a good sense of separation of function. The main achievement was making purposeful use of the sunlounge space adjacent the kitchen, with an island sofa providing the morning email / coffee / cat spot, and modular for the orientation to rotate toward the kitchen when the family gather.
