Within this Hauraki Gulf project our design team had the opportunity to create a permanent family home with a strong sense of coastal sophistication and international flavour balanced with an innate feeling of personal character and relatability.

We created interior spaces that responded to the beauty visible through every window, with the capacity to interact with the outside environment yet be able to instantly deliver a sense of privacy and intimacy.

It was a joy to really engage our studio’s ethos of elevating the everyday through well considered design & spatial planning. Our belief in the inclusion of biophilic design principles that champion the craftsperson & artisan, enabled our design direction to speak to the clients’ brief and connect the design to the home’s expansive natural panorama.

Our team understood that the emotive experience of this coastal environment needed to be mirrored within our design response, through the crafted forms, the subtly layered colour palette and the integrity of our material choices. These essential design elements should evoke a similar sensory observation when our clients, their family and friends interacted with each interior space, they should feel connected and at ease with the natural beauty surrounding this home.
