Daily Bread Britomart is the brand’s flagship bakery—an ambitious project that brings together a high-performance commercial kitchen and a welcoming, character-rich customer experience in the heart of downtown Auckland.

Set within a restored heritage building, the design celebrates the existing structure—exposed brickwork, jarrah columns, and kauri floors—through a warm, neutral palette and tactile, durable materials. A clear central axis leads visitors through the space, anchored by a reclaimed jarrah leaner and mirrored in the mass of the service counter. Seating is zoned to support a range of experiences, from quick stops to long, communal gatherings.

The kitchen sits openly in the customer’s view, with stainless steel work surfaces and exposed ducting expressing the scale and rhythm of daily production. Below, a full commercial prep kitchen supports the brand’s wider operations.

Custom elements—including pleated banquette seating, hand-built clay pendants, in-situ concrete tables and NZ-made stools—reinforce Daily Bread’s commitment to craft, simplicity and local sourcing.
