Description:

Normanby Fine Wines is a boutique wine and spirits store with an all-day café and tasting cellar, designed to bring ease and elegance to the art of wine. Created by the team behind Webbs Auction House, the space reflects a collector’s eye: layered, characterful and refined. With a focus on rare and exclusive bottles, particularly from Bordeaux, Normanby offers expert guidance from the head seller and hosts intimate tasting experiences in a purpose-built 14°C cellar. It’s a space designed not just for storing wine, but for sharing it.

The interior presents as a natural extension of the Webbs brand, drawing on its legacy of collected objects and layering that same sensibility into the design. Furniture, lighting and art were carefully sourced through Webbs’ own estate sales to give the space a lived-in warmth and sense of familiarity.

From the reclaimed timber ceiling to the antiqued oak cabinetry, material choices bring character and depth. The liquor wall acts as a visual anchor, its arched form lined with stepped riser shelving and softly backlit to echo the glow of a traditional back bar. A tiled counter in front invites interaction and adds a further hospitality touch. Across the room, the floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall wine retail display features a sliding ladder to encourage customer exploration.

The tasting cellar, La Cave, sits at the rear. A large, marble-tiled table, fit for ten and surrounded by sheepskin-covered chairs, sets a welcoming residential tone. Framed by sheer curtains, the space feels more like a private dining room than a traditional cellar. With the perfect degree of chill to keep the wine happy.

Together, these elements shape a venue that is equal parts retail, ritual and rest. It invites guests to browse, taste and linger in a space that feels both personal and considered.
