The Colombo
Description:
DMC Art and Wordshop had an opportunity to transform The Colombo retail precinct using the works of veteran Christchurch artist Philip Trusttum.
They created five art galleries inside The Colombo, and filled the public spaces with artworks on the walls and suspended from the ceilings.
The Colombo itself was transformed, with enormous graphics covering the entrances, billboards, and parts of the exterior of the building.
And the exhibition featured a unique BMW Art Car, a custom-decorated iX1 electric vehicle on display inside The Colombo featuring Trusttum's electrifying works.
This was the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of a single artist's work in Christchurch's history, and certainly one of the most significant in Aotearoa. It was a total takeover.
