Judge's comments:

It is excellent to see a product that responds to an urgent need to tackle and reduce the rat and stoat pest population that is devastating New Zealand’s native plant and animal population. In addition to features of practicality, ease of installation and use, as well as durability in tough operating conditions, the judges were particularly impressed that the A24 Automatic Humane Rat and Stoat Trap goes beyond traditional notions of sustainability. The trap has the potential to contribute positively to rebuilding New Zealand’s natural eco-systems. The judges also noted how great it was to see a New Zealand design company collaborating with the Department of Conservation. This is a continuation of a partnership that has resulted now in a range of successful, innovative, sustainable products.
