Judge's comments:

A product designed to surpass changes in trends, and to outlive others in the market. With sustainability at the core of the design approach, a high proportion of recycled material (both post-consumer and post-industrial) is used, and when it does reach the end of its life each part can be separated, replaced, repaired, or recycled. Sound ergonomics result in an incredibly comfortable chair that moves with the user.
The result of a sophisticated vision for the future of complex product design that doesn’t compromise on performance, durability, or aesthetics.

Description:

Denn is the new typology for the modern workplace.

Denn innovates aesthetically, functionally, and environmentally to be the first fully featured task chair to seamlessly support the new workplace. Thousands of hours of research and development have defined Denn’s innovation to provide a solution which is advantageous for business, end users and the planet.

A market leading environmental solution

Denn’s environmental consideration will set the new benchmark in the industry. From material selection to manufacturing, distribution and installation every element of Denn is environmentally considered.

Denn is predominantly made from ocean, post-consumer and industrial waste with a market leading 55.9%, or above of Denn’s total weight being made from recycled content and 94% of Denn is recyclable at the end of life.

Considered material, considered application.

Every one of Denns components have been designed with the environment in mind. The transparent back structure is made from 90% post-consumer recycled polycarbonate and uses no glass fibre enabling better recyclability. The back surface is made using SEAQUAL® YARN, a 100% post-consumer recycled polyester fabric which contains upcycled marine plastic litter and utilises 3D knitting which significantly reduces manufacturing waste. The main structural plastic elements are made from 100% post-consumer recycled nylon.

Denn not only uses great materials but uses them sparingly. At only12kg Denn achieves this reduced weight through rigorous prototyping and testing of every component to minimise the amount of material used while still achieving the necessary strength. Denn also utilises innovative molding techniques, like gas assist and over-molding, to give the highest strength to weight ratio.

Designed to last.

The depth of exploration and design ensures Denn is fulfilling a genuine unmet need and that the functional and aesthetic innovation will be right for years to come.

Denn is also tested for longevity as well. Denn meets BIFMA G1 ergonomic guideline and exceeds ANSI/BIFMA X5.1-2017 standard for strength, durability, stability, and pinch points.

Designed for the world.

Denn’s main assemblies are made at Zenith's Shanghai factory with final assembly done in local markets. This global supply chain centralises component manufacturing and localises assembly to minimise shipping footprint and ensures the highest performing product at a very competitive price point.
