Description:

Resonating with an incredible opportunity
Our planet has a growing problem with waste, and with 45-50% of total waste going to landfills in New Zealand coming from construction and demolition, there is an incredible opportunity for positive change. The SpinFix™ mounting system explores this opportunity by recycling in-house waste into new materials that have completely circular lifecycles.

SpinFix is an adhesive-free mounting system for acoustic panels. It uses proprietary friction welding technology to bind the 100% PET clips to the panels without glue. Using SpinFix allows for easy removal and disassembly of acoustic panels without damaging them or the underlying surfaces. At the end of their life cycle, these panels can be easily dismounted and repurposed or recycled due to the absence of adhesive residue. This not only reduces landfill waste but also conserves resources by enabling the reuse of materials that would otherwise be discarded as waste.

By focusing on materials, we create pathways with lower environmental impact. We design and manufacture sustainably, considering the entire lifecycle of our products, from cradle to cradle, including their end-of-life as our product. SpinFix is specifically designed with disassembly in mind, making it easy to repurpose and recycle acoustic panels. By enabling the repurposing and recycling of acoustic panels, we can ensure less waste is added to landfills and that we are taking responsibility for the complete lifecycle of our acoustic products.

Pioneering end-of-life solutions
Made by utilising in-house waste, SpinFix has a completely circular lifecycle. All in-house waste gets fed through a unique and industry-first pelletising process to create more recycled material called RePET, which is injection moulded to make more clips and product components. The RePET pelletising process is one of two recycling initiatives that form part of a larger circularity project aimed at diverting waste from landfills and extending the product lifecycle. Designed for disassembly at end-of-life, SpinFix can be recycled through the RePET process with the panel again to make more clips. Through the RePET process, we have been able to repurpose over 140,000 kg of waste into new components. This is just the beginning, we will increase our operational capacity, expecting to reach an annual amount of over 240 tonnes of repurposed material with plans to make the tech available to other industries and support other recycling initiatives.

Fluent ingenuity
The clips' smart design allows wall fixings to mark the panels for clip locations. Then, the clips can be friction welded to the panel in the desired location. This allows for flexible installation as the clips can be positioned evenly or moved to find studs. In addition to its pioneering end-of-life considerations, SpinFix increases the panel's acoustic performance by utilising a 6 mm air gap between the panel and substrate.

This marks the first iteration of a groundbreaking circularity innovation, setting the stage for future advancements. Alongside this pioneering approach, other fixing methods, such as rail mounts for suspended panels and flush mounts, are also being considered for inclusion in the range over time. These enhancements aim to provide greater flexibility and efficiency by simplifying the installation process and broadening the application scope.
