Description:

Planet Zephyr is a weird and wonderful world full of colour, and is home to some truly odd creatures! This project intends to escape the seriousness of reality, and showcase a collection that is playful, fun and lighthearted. The fictional creatures Notto and Orman, were designed as an exploration into the costume-making process, utilising soft, brightly coloured fabrics to create friendly and joyful personas.

This project was a response to an open brief where we were encouraged to take creative risks and explore our imagination. I took this as an opportunity to explore new ways of making and create something abstract and playful.

Born of a desire to escape reality during a stressful and chaotic time, Planet Zephyr is a universe I created in my spare time through doodles and drawings. The last few years have brought the world a lot of uncertainty and stress, so I wanted to make a project that helped me escape reality for a moment and find joy in a colourful world of my own imagination. I hoped that in creating a collection that brings me joy, it would also bring joy to whoever views it.

To translate the friendly personas of Notto and Orman into physical form, I used bright colours, soft shapes and fluffy textures. Together all of these create warm and welcoming demeanours that you can’t help but smile at when you see them.
