During the research stage of this project, I discovered the concept of the squat toilet. Although not widely adopted in Western society, this type of toilet is prevalent throughout the world and much of history due to their simplicity and effectiveness. My research revealed numerous benefits of squat toilets. Importantly, the negative health issues that have come with using conventional Western toilets. Despite the scientific evidence supporting its benefits, the practice of squatting is not accepted in the West.

Good bowel movements are crucial for our health and well-being. I wanted to present the health benefits of the squat toilet and make them accessible without compromising the familiarity and comfort of the Western toilet. Although products exist that attempt to achieve this, they are not being used. Current solutions are unattractive, and people avoid these as they disrupt the look of their bathroom. I solved this problem by creating a solution that seamlessly integrates into the bathroom environment to provide the health benefits of squatting without sacrificing aesthetics or comfort.

By developing a product that combines functionality with appealing aesthetics, I hope to encourage more widespread adoption and improve overall health and well-being.
