HiLo is a radar-based tank level monitoring device connected 24/7 via satellite delivering high performance, durability, and serviceability for New Zealand’s outdoor environments. Users rely on HiLo for real-time water level data from remote locations, and this new design builds on the strengths of the original, with a renewed focus on resilience, connectivity and ease of use.

The updated form is compact, weather-sealed, and visually refined. A two-tone colour scheme was introduced to address thermal performance. The light grey top reflects heat and UV to protect sensitive electronics, while the darker base reduces visual bulk and helps the unit blend into its surroundings. It looks purposeful and considered, with influences drawn from marine radar domes and compact communication technology.

A new rotating base provides up to 15 degrees of tilt adjustment, solving installation challenges on sloped or uneven tank surfaces. A magnetic service cap covers the fixings, speeding up battery replacement while also providing a thermal buffer that insulates the internals from external heat. Battery life has been doubled, and all components are housed in a fully sealed, impact-resistant enclosure.

Connectivity is offered via satellite allowing users to monitor tank levels through an intuitive app and cloud-based dashboard. The design ensures continued reliability across a wide range of environmental conditions, from intense sun and fluctuating temperatures to rain, dust, and wind.

Beyond water tanks, the device is suitable for a range of other liquid-monitoring applications, including fuel, wastewater, and river levels. It is already in use across a variety of settings, from remote farms to DOC huts.

This redesign represents a shift in how rural utility products can be experienced, engineered, refined, and quietly confident. HiLo proves that performance and durability do not have to come at the cost of thoughtful design.
