The strategy for La~De~Da began with exploring automotive manufacturing techniques, specifically sheet metal pressing. This process revealed a beautiful relationship between two waving layers of aluminium that offered a compelling play of light and shadow. The hero piece, offered in a liquid-like chrome finish further enhances the experience to the viewer, by adding a reflective element, creating the illusion of a round globe when you peer into one of the ‘windows’.

Powered by minimal translucent cables, the LED and softly diffused glass globe were specifically designed for the product, where we balanced the light output between the downlight and ambient 'window' light.

La~De~Da is a fun, yet glamorous product that is designed to enhance the playfulness of spaces and disrupt the straight lines in architecture. La~De~Da (as the name suggests) is a confident statement in design, it combines materiality with beautiful construction and functionality, and elevates New Zealand design to a global audience.
