The Port pendant began with a simple idea: to design a non-directional glass shade compatible with standard E14 and E27 lightbulbs. The result is a design that feels both elevated and accessible, combining everyday components with handblown glass.
The distinctive, flowing form gently turns inward to discreetly house the bulb and power supply. The result is a beautiful, mouth-blown glass shade that is reminiscent of the graceful taper of a port bottle’s shoulders. The opal white glass complements the clean, minimal aesthetic and casts a warm, ambient glow.
Producing a pendant compatible with standard light fittings from a single piece of blown glass required multiple iterations and close to two years of development. The final design is available in two sizes—small (E14) and large (E27)—with a shared construction.
The pendant is suspended from a three-strand cable system. This includes one power input and two adjustable supports, allowing the shade to hang level. The cable system is available in white or black, offering either tonal cohesion or bold contrast with the opal shade.
Designed by David Moreland and Haydn Nixon for Città, the Port pendant embraces simplicity, practicality, and the beauty of handmade processes.
