Description:

The Contour Table family was designed to highlight the skills and craftsmanship ability of the client, in particular the manufacturing capabilities with solid timber using both traditional and modern techniques. The concept was for a family of tables, with rounded, geometric forms which appear to be carved from single block of wood rather than machined and assembled.

There were many challenges through the process, namely around managing wastage and material when trying to achieve the seamless visual detailing.

The Legs were designed to be turned in a single pass to achieve the necessary detail of the double tangential curve in both directions - Along the leg itself and where it meets the bottom face of the top.

The Tabletops themselves use unconventional oval and ovoid shapes to achieve a more unique geometry and retain the soft language of the legs.

Contour retains a soft character through it’s considered curved edges. A welcomed sense of lightness is created through the rounded legs and table top connected by soft arcs.
Asymmetrical in profile, the Contour coffee table is an ode to the familiar nature of biological contours.

The collection was released in a range of variants including Oval Dining Table, Ovoid Coffee table, Round Cafe Table and ovoid nesting tables.
