Description:

Manufacturing successfully in New Zealand requires innovative approaches to overcome the challenges a small and geographically isolated country presents. Global trends offer endless inspiration for interior design, but the viability and availability of a full range often restricts what options are easily accessible to the New Zealand designer.
With Terete we set out to design a table and leaner system constructed from a minimal range of core components that would be economically sustainable to manufacture in New Zealand in an extensive range of sizes and finishes to fit the widest possible range of market functions.
The final design offers over 70 standard options of tables and leaners of varying sizes, on bases all constructed from two core components. With tops made to order inhouse, any table or leaner size can be efficiently manufactured from the two stocked base components and finished to customers’ own specification. The final Terete design successfully gives designers ready access to an endlessly versatile design product that can be specified with confidence across a wide range of applications, being efficiently and sustainably manufactured to order in New Zealand in small production runs.
