The project of creating Orbit was driven by our belief that society thrives on interaction, balanced with the need for semi-muted spaces without visual distractions in open-plan spaces. Traditional solutions often involved pods or booths that completely isolate the occupant. Our belief is that finding focus doesn’t require isolation, and that productivity and connection can coexist. By creating intentional boundaries for deep work while maintaining moments of connection, we can allow for concentration without disconnection. We saw an opportunity to move away from the clinical, hard-edged, and symmetric designs of traditional pods. Instead we aimed to create a more organic solution both in materiality and aesthetic, that would provide a more inviting experience both internally and externally. Our approach aims to balance the need for focus with the desire for more aesthetically pleasing and connected spaces.
