Description:

The Opportunity
Over the last few years and months, there has been a transformation in the way people work and interact. Public spaces are becoming workspaces as well as the reverse, and the emerging trend is that work is no longer tied to a specific location. We have seen how quickly circumstances can change and how adaptable and dynamic spaces need to be today.
The Method Seating System was developed in response to these observations to provide a flexible seating solution that bridges relaxing, collaboration and working with ease.

The brief
A seating system that is:
1. Comfortable to lounge in
2. Supportive work from, both ergonomically and functionally
3. Able to be simply reconfigured by the user to meet changing requirements of any given space
4. It must be beautiful!

The Design
The Method frame is based on a square grid format with one leg offset from each corner and this allowed each piece to be orientated in any direction without the legs clashing on any face. This feature is the cornerstone of Method and shaped the design process from there on.
By keeping each piece within the same square footprint using the same base frame, the design became endlessly configurable. The leg placement opened up possibilities for the functional accessories required for working and tables, planters and lights were developed to further create harmony between the functional and aesthetic requirements of the brief.

The Solution
Method is beautiful, comfortable, and functional for all types of spaces from quiet focus or drop down through to breakout, collaboration and reception. Above all it is limitlessly and easily configurable.
The collection is made up of 8 standard seating pieces and 8 standard accessories. Two ottoman options, straight, end, corner and armchair lounge options and two back heights allow for any seating situation. Accessories include two side table options, a power and USB charging outlet, a coat stand, a lamp and three planter options.
Method is manufactured here in New Zealand and all finishes from powder coat, timber stain and fabrics are customisable.
