The Bough dining chair is a celebration of considered design details. The curved T-shaped backrest provides a distinctive modern silhouette and delicately connects to the elegantly shaped legs.
In our preliminary design research, we explored the 18th-century Shaker furniture movement. Elements of this initial inspiration are subtly woven into the completed design, notably in the taper at the top and bottom of the back leg.
Additionally, the design takes cues from organic forms in nature. The name ‘Bough’ references ‘main tree branch’, which is masterfully celebrated in the chair’s form and composition.
The chair underwent three years of considered design development. We made delicate adjustments to the shape of the ply backrest and the “X” rails to avoid production issues and ensured it passed BIFMA testing. These efforts have resulted in a chair suited to both residential and commercial environments.
The precise touch-point between the back and leg showcases the expert craftsmanship required to produce the chair, making the Bough another well-considered addition to Città’s furniture collection.
Designed for versatility, the dining chair can be stacked up to five chairs high, making it suitable for various settings. It has also been BIFMA-tested for durability and crafted using FSC-certified timber, making it an ideal solution for any project or environment.
