Description:

UNLOCKING NEW DESIGN POSSIBILITIES
Traditional jewellery methods require gemstones to be locked or held in place with metal prongs or clasps – limiting the scope of what designs can be imagined and achieved. After countless years of clients asking for jewellery showcasing gems without claws and a decade of intensive global research and development, a technical breakthrough was achieved that enabled an entirely new setting approach for diamonds. The Floeting® Diamond was perfected, patented and launched.

BREAKING BOUNDARIES
By combining expertise and applying new methods from industries around the world, The Village Goldsmith team worked with specialist engineers, designers, gem cutters and jewellers to shift from traditional jewellery methods to precise engineering and high-tech manufacturing techniques. Utilising laser technology, specialist machinery, space-age metallurgy, and a patented redesign of the traditional diamond structure with specialised cutting and faceting, the team achieved the Floeting® Diamond setting.
This custom designed, patented diamond cut allows a micro-engineered setting to be secured below the widest part of the diamond, creating a top-down view that is free of prongs or overarching metal. The elegant and minimalist design directs all attention to the diamond’s sparkle and scintillation that is maximised by this setting. The Floeting® Diamond is set in a specialist titanium alloy – which is stronger and longer lasting than traditional gold or platinum metals.

NEW SETTING DEFIES EXPECTATIONS
The patented Floeting® Diamond setting now allows a diamond to appear as if it’s floating above the ring, pendant or earring – making previously unimaginable jewellery designs achievable.
Our client for The Floeting® Diamond Vessel ring asked us to create a streamlined, soft, organically-based form to showcase 5-diamonds in a line to their maximum light performance levels while simultaneously achieving a highly wearable and streamlined object they would feel comfortable wearing in every circumstance.
Whilst maintaining a minimalist philosophy and design to its appearance, The Floeting® Diamond Vessel ring creates a visual illusion. The design begs the question, how are the diamonds secured? While appearing to delicately float above the vessel, independent testing has demonstrated the Floeting® Diamond is over 20% stronger than a traditional setting, ensuring the ring will last for generations.
Meticulously handcrafted yellow gold forms a curvaceous “vessel” that focuses the eye on and protects the diamonds while the smooth shape is comfortable to wear with no sharp edges to catch on fabric or other surfaces.

UNINTERRUPTED LIGHT RETURN
Each diamond is perfectly matched in its placement - facet-to-facet. This allows each diamond to reflect and amplify light from one to the other, creating a cascading effect that maximises the scintillation and brilliance of each gem. Traditional clasping methods - such as prongs/claws, or rub over bezels - cover over some portion of the surface of the diamond, impeding the perfect return of all reflected light from the diamond and creates undesirable visual breaks to the eye. The Floeting® Diamond eliminates this problem, creating perfect light return from every diamond.
