The Pinch vase marks the beginning of an ongoing collaboration between Città and internationally renowned product designer Jamie McLellan.

The design explores how a simple gesture—pinching one end of a cylinder—can create a sculptural form that’s both beautiful and functional. The result is a distinctive figure-eight silhouette with two internal chambers.

This unique shape offers possibilities for floral arrangement: blooms can fan out in a striking widescreen display, or create an asymmetrical composition when placed to one side. Thoughtfully balanced proportions ensure the circumference of the base matches the pinched outline, reinforcing the design’s quiet symmetry.

The form is elevated by expert craftsmanship. Each vase is meticulously made by a family-operated pottery workshop in Vietnam. The ceramic composition produces walls that are strong, fluid, and refined—capturing the complexity of the pinched shape with precision and care.

The Pinch vase is available in three nature-inspired colours: a bright citrus yellow, a soft pōhutukawa bud green, and a deep charcoal green. Each hue was chosen to reflect the natural surroundings of Waiheke Island, where Jamie now lives and works.

The collaboration reflects a shared design ethos: to celebrate simple ideas with consideration, craftsmanship, and colour.
