The Shakti Wonderball is a precision acupressure tool designed to expand Shakti’s cult ‘bed-of-nails’ wellness range into a new format. The opportunity was to design a tactile object and accessories that deliver targeted relief for busy people, supporting “micro-wellbeing” throughout the day. Equally, the Wonderball was conceived as a sculptural object to be proudly left out at home or work: a monument to wellbeing that invites conversation and spontaneous use.
Our approach balanced form, function, and responsible production. Every decision (material, weight, feel, and sharpness) was carefully iterated to optimise therapeutic effect while delivering a sensory, intuitive experience. The Wonderball’s 658 brass spikes were achieved through extensive prototyping and tooling refinement, requiring over 50 production trials with our SMETA-certified manufacturing partner in India. Materials were selected for their integrity and responsibility: investment cast brass, cork, and natural rubber, with no plastic, toxic finishes, or wasteful packaging.
The result is a beautiful, durable, and ethically made product that delivers immediate and repeatable wellbeing benefits. As the website describes, “Roll it from head to toe at home, or keep it on your desk to sharpen focus at work.” Early response has been overwhelmingly positive. Production runs have sold out, the product holds a 4.9-star rating in the UK & US stores, and reviews reflect its wide-ranging impact, from easing muscular tension to helping users rediscover calm and focus. It is described as “addictive in the best way,” and a product “that actually works.” Aotearoa release is tentatively scheduled for August 2025.
The Wonderball demonstrates how sustainable materials, purposeful design, and sensory engagement can coexist in a commercial wellness product that people use, display, talk about, and keep.
