Bucketlist is a live-action VFX-based short film inspired by (Anya’s friend Edyn) who had passed away at 16.
Being directly inspired by a personal experience, the aim was to address the research questions: “How can I make a live-action short film that utilises both VFX and cinematic features to convey a sense of warmth and build an emotional connection between the audience and the character of my film”.
Wanting our Bear to portray Anya’s friend Edyn, the bear’s personality and design were heavily influenced by this decision. To give a more realistic movement to our 3D bear, we utilise motion capture to be able to fully express a friendly and playful body language, this would help give a more human-like connection to our character.

Our project also utilises a film aesthetic to further reinforce a sense of nostalgia and warmth to help convey our narrative.
