Description:

"Team" is the theme and small business is the goal in this scoring fest for Xero, as they look ahead to their partnership with FIFA for the 2023 Women's World Cup. Our goal was to create a rousing, inspirational film with dynamic animation, touches of humour and sound design that is intertwined with storytelling. This is the kind of brief that we dream about - the perfect synergy of a great script, a collaborative client and awesome art direction.

The animation follows the growth of a footballer and she trains relentlessly at her home grounds. Over the years we see incremental improvements in her playing skills, as she dribbles quicker and her aim improves. We also see that as the support for women’s sport grows it accelerates the success of the myriad of small businesses that surround her home ground. We witness a cycle of growth - small business supporting the beautiful game, which in turn supports small business.

Sound design and music played a huge part in helping build momentum. We wanted the animation to feel like it was stitched together with the audio. We animated to the beat and cut to the rhythm of the track with sound effects at times acting as percussive elements constantly driving the story forward.

Working on this project was a highlight for everyone involved and is proof that deep collaboration and teamwork deliver the best results whether it’s on the pitch or crafting keyframes.
