Echoes is a unique, interactive heritage experience that constructs images in the present from echoes of the past. Featuring hundreds of images of places, people, events, and objects that together offer a glimpse into the extraordinary history of Tauranga.

These images were hand-selected from three local archives - the Tauramga Heritage Collection, Tauranga City Libraries Pae Koroki and The Elms Foundation Collection. Each archive is a portal to the past that encourages the audience to spend time exploring.

People can also become part of the exhibition and join our community of the past. By sharing a photo or themselves, friends and whānau with the hashtag #echoestgamoana.

The images are presented flowing across the screen, like a river. The work tracks up to three audience members via a camera sensor allowing them to interact with it in different ways using hand gestures.
