Description:

Feast or Famine is a practice-led research project that explores the theme of food inequality. Food inequality in Aotearoa is a pressing social issue that underscores the disparities in access to nutritious and affordable food within the country. This issue highlights the stark contrast between a thriving food industry that exports produce worldwide and the presence of food insecurity, malnutrition, and hunger among vulnerable communities.

This project aims to help bring light to the issue while educating readers of the multifaceted nature of food inequality, both globally and in Aotearoa, exploring its causes, consequences, and the efforts made to address this issue; through the method of photography, image making and typography. This publication features a collection of stories, research and commentaries from experts and communities of people who lack equal access to food. Ultimately, this project serves as a reminder to recognise that food inequality is not merely a matter of access to calories, but also a question of access to health, dignity, and opportunity.
