Description:

The project revitalizes the heart of Auckland. Maintaining the architectural heritage while paying tribute to Mana Whenua by referencing the Waihorotiu Stream, and at the same time providing a more organic access to Aotea square, enhancing event on the Aotea square through the use of the interactive façade – all this should connect Eliot Street, Queen Street, Lorne Street Wellesley Street, AUT and Auckland UNI as a natural center of gravity. Maximizing the flow of people through the building and should increase the attractiveness for all outside areas with direct street access, and as discussed in performance section, these are to increase three-fold – the effect is likely to translate into a significant increase of the exposure of all tenants to their potential customers. The existing geographical location together, the adjacency and enhancement of the cultural message of the space together with its political significance, being the center of all protests, and through this of public expression, the project should significantly contribute to transforming the Aotea square and the entire precinct back into the true central square of Auckland City, which for it should function in the same way as does Times Square for New York, Trafalgar for London, Tiananmen Square for Beijing, making the location a ‘must see’ location for all international travelers as well as for local communities.
