SKEEHAN is an Australian design studio specialising in high-end furniture and designs for commercial environments. The purpose of this project was to reposition the brand to reflect an evolving team, express the diversity of their projects, encourage collaboration and communicate the value of their offerings to the Australian-made market. Paramount to the brand’s success is their ability to effectively communicate to prospective clientele their vision to reconnect people to the material world around them. The devised strategy sought to emphasise innovation and partnerships, encourage engagement across brand touchpoints and facilitate collaboration between designer and client throughout various phases of product development.
The concept explores the team’s unique and restrained approach to brand, research, positioning and materiality. A new graphic system, custom typography and branding guidelines have been employed to reinforce the intelligence of SKEEHAN’s methods. The website has been transformed into a valuable tool for creatives to promote a transparent process that guides projects through a constant exchange of ideas.
The brand identity was designed with a custom typographic solution, stripped back to raw, honest elements and inspired by the low, angular, refined furniture designs that have become synonymous with the designers’ aesthetic. Paired with new type, the art direction now features a dark, moody photographic approach which utilises natural light and stylised scenes, evidencing the products’ compatibility with high-end home magazines and showrooms.
To position the brand as a studio of choice, much work went into developing tools which enhance the experience of the end-user. The website now hosts such downloadable content as 3D modelling files, CAD drawings, palette and swatch selectors, catalogues and brochures. This ensures that the products are easy to spec for potential architects and interior designers, whilst offering more detailed information on vision, approach and projects for potential clients and partners. Additionally, we have created a number of pitch templates to support in the creative and sales process.
