Description:

'Observations: Dress in Art & Design History' is the third volume in the National Gallery of Victoria’s (NGV) Observations series, which presents thematic texts and conversations exploring the museum’s Collection. This edition focuses on the role of dress in art and design history, from the sixteenth century to the twentieth century, through multidisciplinary perspectives.

What sets this project apart is its accessible approach to scholarship, designed to engage a broad readership with design history as something dynamic and connected to everyday life. The balance of typographic clarity, image curation and physical form makes it a unique hybrid: part transcript, part design object. It repositions educational publishing as an act of design in itself – inviting, structured and worthy of attention.
