Creating a title sequence and key imagery treatment that evokes the sense of isolation and distortion for residents of Gloriavale was our goal.
We needed to make a memorable and graphically intriguing opening sequence that spoke to some of the keys themes explored in this TV series.

By using the panelled glass often found in institutional doors, we were able to create an evocative image and typographic filter that hides, contains and distorts objects and people behind it. The panelled glass suggests the barriers faced by many of the people in the controversial west coast community.

Rather than digital trickery, we made a full analogue rig with glass panel, laser cut three dimensional typographic model and talent from the series. This approach created a beautiful world of organic aberrations, making the sequence alluring and mesmerising.
