Description:

Chronoptics are experts in 3D cameras and the technology that makes them work. While they have a tangible product to show, the true value of their product lies in the vast range of its potential application across automotive, consumer, robotics, security and industrial. They also offer enormous value in their ability to tailor 3D sensing solutions to a customer’s particular needs.

The main goal of this project was to create a visual landing experience for the website’s visitors, introducing them to the Chronoptics brand, product and service in a polished, stylised and engaging manner. Our challenge was to find a way to visualise the more abstract and less tangible aspects of the Chronoptics offer, as well as showcase their off-the-shelf product. Our work needed the sex appeal to draw people in while also being accurate and detailed to satisfy the scientific audience.

As a startup the client didn’t have much real-world imagery for us to work with, so the applications we needed to show were hypothetical and broad. We decided to build and render a series of 3D scenes illustrating the application of Chronoptics’ depth sensing point cloud technology, along with stylised and beautiful renders of the camera. Using 3D allowed us to use the existing 3D model of the camera and explode its components, both for dramatic effect as well as to help communicate customisation options and component interchangeability. In reality without seeing the point cloud output the Chronoptics camera looks much like any other, so rendering in 3D allowed us to visualise the impressive technology at work in the scene.

In keeping with the brand we retained minimal textures and colours, giving an aspirational and conceptual impression to the graphics. Dramatic lighting with brand colour accents, clean lines and precise detail reflect Chronoptics’ impressive technical expertise and passion for their product.

Using video as a medium allowed us to give equal weighting to the key aspects of the Chronoptics offer and communicate them succinctly in the website user’s first experience. While the primary output for this project was a landing video for the website, the assets have been generated for use in other informational elements on the site and will likely be used across further marketing material.
