Description:
Aotearoa’s most iconic road safety jingle is back—with a beat drop. First launched in the 1980s by McDonald’s, Make It Click became part of the cultural fabric for a generation of Kiwi kids. In 2024, we brought it roaring back to life—remixed as a high-energy drum and bass anthem to reach a new audience of Gen Z drivers heading out on the summer road.
More than a music update, this was a reframe of a classic. Our role was to evolve the visual identity into something fresh, festival-ready and built to spark memory and action. The result was a bold graphic system that fused nostalgia with modern music culture—complete with expressive motion, irreverent typography, and punchy digital design that connected road safety messaging to real-life behaviour.
With DJ Jess Rhodes as the new face of the campaign, Make It Click hit both the airwaves and the mainstage—culminating in a live performance at Rhythm and Vines. The relaunch not only honoured the original’s legacy, but re-energised its purpose: to get Kiwis buckling up, putting their phones down, and making it home safe.
A cultural comeback with a serious message—remixed for the next generation.
