Description:

Guo Pei: Fashion, Art, Fantasy 郭培:时装之幻梦 was an exhibition showcasing the extravagant and breathtaking fashions of the globally renowned Chinese designer Guo Pei.

A limited palette of black and yellow was chosen for the exhibition identity due to its powerful visual impact and strategic symbolism. In Chinese culture, yellow is often considered the “forbidden colour” as it was traditionally reserved for royalty. By incorporating yellow, the exhibition reflected Guo Pei’s defiance of convention and her bold exploration of tradition and modernity in her couture creations.

The striking yellow and black colour palette, combined with elegant typography and stunning photography, was used throughout the gallery, in print, and online. The campaign was a tremendous success, attracting over 77,000 visitors to the exhibition, making it one of the most attended ticketed exhibitions.

This colour palette captured the defiant essence of Guo Pei’s creative practice while providing much-needed visual prominence in a busy arts and culture landscape.
