Story Espresso
Description:
Story Espresso is a specialist coffee shop based in Sydney. In 2021, we worked closely with Story, to develop an identity based around the themes of story and storytelling. The cafe became a convergence point, where people come together and stories start, pivot and end. Using the space as a blank page, from coffee cups, to loyalty cards, to till receipts, stories engaged and entertained the customer, making them feel part of ongoing storylines. In 2022, Story asked us to create a new series of stories. Coffee cups were to be expanded, new receipts were sought, and outdoor posters devised.
The second chapter of Story set out to build upon and evolve what came before. Each application should tell stories that best fit their form. And so we embarked on a series of story posters, stories set out in the world that would help direct readers back to the cafe. The posters placed passersby in the centre of their own disaster story, unfolding in the streets of Sydney. A series of prompts encourage the reader to continue with their day, intercede in the moment, or return to the Story safe haven. The goal was relatively simple: to keep the stories fresh and ever-changing, to entice new customers into the cafe, and to spread the story of Story.
