Hastings District Council

Description:
For years, Hastings was often reduced to a cliché: a place of fruit, wine and gangs. But locals knew the truth: the region was growing in energy, pride, and purpose. The community was ready for a brand that reflected who they really were.
This wasn’t just a logo refresh. It was a chance to reset how the district saw and spoke about itself — moving away from generic council aesthetics and towards something bold, expressive, and unapologetically local.
We took inspiration from the visual language found on every roadside across the region — fruit stall signage and stickers and fused it with the attitude of street art and zine culture — to build an identity full of grit, colour and character.
The tone is confident, community-first, and a little bit rebellious — proudly rejecting the bland and bureaucratic in favour of something that truly belongs to the people.
