BNZ embarked on a brand evolution to modernise its appearance while maintaining a distinctive presence. Drawing inspiration from the night sky, particularly the Aurora Australis, the bank’s new colour gradients symbolise navigation and resilience, showcasing a progressive approach while retaining core brand elements. This refresh aims to stand out by embracing vibrant colours and natural themes, thus broadening BNZ’s visual appeal and reinforcing its brand role as a navigator towards a brighter future. The design strategy emphasises flexibility in colour application, integrating the starry sky motif and dynamic gradients to reflect natural beauty and adaptability across various mediums. This approach not only modernises BNZ’s image, it sets BNZ apart in a category that has entrenched colour codes, and strengthens its connection to Aotearoa as the Bank of New Zealand. This is evident in the positive market response to the refreshed identity over the past year.
