Description:

“Reynard the Fox” is a Pilgrim’s journey told through an interactive storytelling website. This reimagines the traditional medieval tale through the lens of power, perception, and the evolving nature of truth. Users take the role of a wandering pilgrim, guided through a landscape of bias and buried truths. Conversations with various characters, fractured narratives, and landscapes slowly assemble Reynard’s story, although not quite in the way users might expect.

Structured as a pilgrimage to Malpertuis, the journey invites users to reflect on the elusive line between fact and fiction. Along the way, the story deals with themes of corruption and social hierarchy. This offers a space for ambiguity and interpretation. This is different from the traditional arc; Reynard does not triumph with a seat at the court. Instead, he is still pushing against systems, which highlights how societal change takes time to take effect.

Designed to be immersive yet accessible, the experience prioritises world-building while developing a clear narrative arc. The story is deliberately paced to allow users to discover and reflect as they explore. This reinforces the idea that truth, like change, is never linear.

This project challenges audiences to consider how stories are shaped, who gets to tell them, and how our roles as listeners evolve over time.
