Into the Amazon is an interactive digital experience from National Geographic that invites users on a new kind of expedition. Built from a two-year journey across 4,000 miles of rainforest, mountains, and rivers, this project blends rich storytelling with advanced web technology to bring the Amazon to life.

Seventeen explorers gathered scientific and cultural insights from across the region. Our task was to make this research accessible and immersive, turning a vast, complex environment into something you could scroll through, touch, and explore.

The experience layers National Geographic’s stunning visual archive with modern interaction design. As you move through the site, you descend into the forest, follow GPS-tracked wildlife across 3D terrain, and uncover the Amazon’s stories from canopy to forest floor.

This is more than content, it’s a multi-sensory experience that invites curiosity and encourages learning. At a time when environmental awareness is more urgent than ever, Into the Amazon gives users a deeper understanding of why this region matters and how its future is tied to our own.
