Our Aotearoa is an animated documentary series about the lives of immigrants in New Zealand. It consists of three short episodes of different individuals with similar yet vastly different stories. Each episode uses a different style of animation that fits each individual’s story.

The series creates awareness around the internal and external conflicts faced when moving countries and acclimating to a new culture and society. Many may not know or understand the adversities one faces when integrating into a new country and how this affects a person's mental health and wellbeing. Or, may believe “these things just don’t happen in Aotearoa”. We want to show the world that these situations still occur in contemporary Aotearoa and that these are affecting people within our community.

'Our Aotearoa' aims to add to the growing content around the topic of immigration. We believe that with this project we are opening a dialogue for a diverse representation of Aotearoa - the one we know, Our Aotearoa.
